Peer-Review Process
1. Initial Review | |
At this stage, the editorial team conducts an initial review of the submitted manuscript without involving external reviewers. The purpose is to screen the manuscript before it proceeds to the next review stage. This evaluation—also referred to as a desk review or desk evaluation—is carried out without sending the manuscript to external parties. The editor evaluates several key aspects, including:
a. Focus and Scope | Does the manuscript align with the journal’s focus and scope? Jurnal Paradoks Hukum specializes in legal studies, so the manuscript must be relevant to the legal field. |
b. Similarity Score | The manuscript is checked using plagiarism detection software (Turnitin) to ensure that there are no signs of plagiarism. |
c. Methodological Flaw | The editor assesses whether the research methods are valid, appropriate, and meet scientific standards. |

2. Double-Blind Peer Review
If the manuscript passes the desk review, it will be sent to at least two independent reviewers. Both the reviewers’ and the author’s identities are kept confidential. The purpose is to ensure an unbiased evaluation of the manuscript’s scientific quality.
3. Author’s Response to Reviewers' Comments
The reviewers’ feedback will be forwarded to the author for revisions (if necessary). The author must submit a revised version along with a point-by-point response to each comment.
4. Editorial Team Meeting and Final Decision
Once the revised manuscript is received, the editorial team will meet to decide whether the manuscript is accepted, rejected, or requires further revision. This decision is made collectively.
5. Notification to Author (Pemberitahuan Hasil Akhir kepada Penulis)
The editor will notify the corresponding author of the final decision (accepted or rejected).
6. Copyediting and Layout Editing
If accepted, the manuscript will undergo final editing, including copyediting to refine grammar, style, and consistency, as well as layout editing to prepare the manuscript for publication. |
